So I started thinking what does it take to look like that ALL the time? What sort of effort is needed to look stunning every time you walk out of the house? AND could I make that sort of effort? I mean I am an attractive woman in my own right and every so often I get a second look and smile, but I am not high maintenance. I am always without make-up. I tie my hair in a pony-tail and slip into sneakers in a minute. But what if I gave more thought to my outward appearance and glammed it up a bit. What would that take? and could I keep it up? I am thinking since I am on this total makeover kick about new lingerie and underwear, why not extend it to include my outward appearance? Hhmm, lots to think about.

Hey Beautiful,
I will post more, however, I have been extremely busy and haven't had the time to dedicate to my craft outside of work :0)
I absolutely love the encouragement and after this week I will be free to write more. Thanks for the boost and BTW, Dynamic post as usual and remember, "I got my eye on you" Hmmmmmm!
Oh yeah, "High Maintenance in this Economy"
sounds like another debt. Really unattractive.
Now, Picnic Lunches, walks in the park, canoing on a lake or cuddling under a sycamore tree?
Now thats sexy as Hell! Don't throw in making love in a tent on a sweet spring afternoon, Girllllll! I might hurt sumpin...lol

Lovebabz: Thanks for your kind comment on my blog. I'm feeling better. Still with a bit of a head cold and still wishing I was with my father and son and extended family but in good spirits.
(81) I am famous for my smile and I smile a lot
(82) I'm terrible about this. If I'm on with one of the boys, it's very hard to pry me loose.
Hey lady, yep i've noticed these women too, especially in the smalls. I remember just recently having to stop at the mall one Sat morning, and i was dressed way down, sweat pants, gyms, you know clean, but no dazzle. I was astonished see all these women dressed like they were going to the club, lol! I rushed out of there so noone would see me, now if i happen to go to this mall again i feel pressured to dress up a bit. I dress for work, and when i'm going out, but just everyday to the grocery store stuff...that ain't me...i guess i'm not high maintenance, but yeah you are right, they do turn heads. Great post, and i love the list 80-82! Have a wonderful weekend and the best holiday!
Tony OH,
I am glad to hear that you are going to write more. You have a talent and an engaging manner.
I hear men say that stuff but really, the heads turn when "these Women" go by. And "They" are alwasy in the company of beautiful men--who know if these men are worth their weight in M&M's nonetheless there is soemthing to looking Fab all the time. (sigh) Careful Tony OH, your romantic side is showing.
Hey Kelso,
I am famous for my smile too!
And Women hate to feel second to the "Boys" so keep that in mind!
Miz,
I know we should not bow to this pressure, but I am painfully aware of these women and my place next to them. And I can't help but feel I could step it up a bit. (sigh)
Happy Easter!
Hey Babz, I'm with Tony Oh. And I happen to be with a man who tends to tell me I look hot when I am the most dressed down. It's actually kind of annoying...get all dolled up to go out and he says nothing (unless I ask). Greet him wearing sweats and an old t-shirt and he says, "You look great!" ;-)
What's funny about this is that I have a friend that I was roommates with who is a HMW and I see the work it takes. She is in bed by 9:30 so she can get her beauty sleep, needs about 90 mins at night for wrapping hair, bathing, moisturizing and ironing for the next day. I'm not knocking it b/c she ironed and picked my clothes too so I stayed FRESH TO DEATH, LOL! But, she is going through a divorce because her husband loved the look but didn't like the ritual at night and her shopping. Ladies from the D will work 2 jobs to afford what we want so it wasn't draining their pockets but he called her vain and stayed jealous of the attention. So the moral of the story is, if you decide to become a HMW make sure when you are courting there is full disclosure of the cash and time investment. Her new boyfriend loves that about her and wouldn't change a thing!
Hi Laurie and Sister P,
NO I am not trying to become a HMW but I do think I could do a better job of pulling myself together. And I am in awe of women who pull it together. I have no ritual or anything of the sort. I go to bed that's it, I get up and whatever is clean and looks fairly decent that's what I wear (sigh) Now I can go to the Nines when I have somewhere to go and I like that too. But there is something to checking out women who pull it ALL together.
U know, Sistah Love? I DO enjoy the view of beautiful people - male (especially;-) & women. I thank them for putting in all that work for my pleasure - but I know there's NO WAY in HAYL that I'm going to do all that all the time (that sistah p laid out). Playing dress up/glam is fun for me sometimes (like the STL BD Book event) - but, if I can't be comfortable I'm not doing it daily. Now, I think we comfy sistahs who are clean & well kept let a brother know he can relax with us, no matter how he may ogle at a HMW. HMW often make men uncomfortable (at least the kind of man I'd be comfy with - i don't want a HMMan, either - i need a man i can put my feet up under & drank a beer with;-). all that to say: Ditto Tony Oh! LOL!
Hi hear you CapCity!
The Man that steps to me has to understand and accept and plain out just know that I am not a HMW.
I wonder if Tony OH speaks truth to power? I like knowing there are men out there who feel as he does. It truly gives me hope!
Since I had Cam, I'm a bit scared of how I step out of the house some days. I think nothing of doing nothing about my appearance some days. Whew, I'd love to look absolutely fabulous everytime I step out of the door, but it ain't gonna happen anytime soon. Do I get points for looking good when I go to work?
I hope I'm not a HMW, but I am sick to death of hearing men complain about HMW without knowing it. They complain about gold diggas when they are really complaining about HMW -- those women are expensive to maintain and men should know this. All that nail, hair, body and makeup costs a grip -- not to mention clothes, accessories and a car. She's got to have the right car, don't she? A HMW can't roll up on a Carolla of any year, now can she? Once men start picking the right women, perhaps they can then classify them and criticize properly as well.
Ndel's World
Hey Ndelible,
Yes Sister you are making agood point about HMW/Gold Diggas. It does cost loot to look that fine all the time. But it takes effort even with money. You have got to be in that frame of mind to want to look that FINE all the time. I think you are right about men making better choices...I mean I see men with Fine women all the time. I have friends who left wives for FINE HMW. And they complain about the amount of time and energy that it takes to keep these honies up and satisified. Not to say I am not worthy of the same time and attention, but there is something to be said for having something other than your appearance on your brain! With all that said, I am in awe of these Sisters who pull it off ALL THE TIME!
Babz ~~
You ain't lying! I am in awe of women who can pull it off all the time and not declare bankruptcy. Although, I think if I were a man, I'd want to see behind the curtains sometime...
Ndel's World
Well I saw a woman get out of a car who looked so damned pulled together I couldn't take my eyes off her.
in my Riley voice - nikka that's gay.
You can't half do high maintenance, so either commit or leave it alone. Any man who is attracted to you on that level will expect when you want the down time. I think natural beauty with occasional glam pays more dividends in the long run.
OK Rich,
I am NOT GAY! and looking at women is NOT GAY! LOL...no ROFL!
And yes you are partly right! Either commit to the HM or leave it alone. I think I can squeeze in some middle ground. I think I can be much more conscious of my outer sexy glam without a huge commitment of time and money. I think I can pull off putting a little make-up on and starting my day looking a bit more pulled together.
Yes you are right about natural beauty...natural beauty with a bit of enhancement I say!
I appreciate your man's perspective! I have lot's to think about!
LOVEBABZ: I failed to mention that I am BRILLIANT at phone sex.
Kelso,
I noticed that you didn't respond to that one, so I just thought perhaps it was too personal for you to offer an opinion.
Of course you are BRILLIANT! Whatever else could you be.
You just gave me an idea for a post! But to answer your question, you need to put on "The Whole Armor of God" first. (Ephesians 6:11)
You need "the girdle of truth", "the breastplate of righteousness", "feet shod with the preparation of the gospel", "the shield of faith", "the helmet of salvation" and the "sword of the Spirit".
That should be everyone's shopping list. Plus, that fine sista you saw is dealing with the same issues you are dealing with. She's worried about how she looks for the same reasons you are. She just makes that extra effort to do that.
Be prayerful and don't forget your "shopping list" the next time you need new clothes. Don't open the sales paper- just go to Ephesians 6:11-17
hey mate :)
How are you?
I enjoyed our small chat the other day. I'm sorry I was running out the door and had to cut it short.
take care,
Smack
x
Hi Zack,
I hear you. And I appreciate the scripture reference. But the reality is this, you and I both know that we look at women and men-- for that matter who look pulled together...ALL THE TIME! My point is what would it take to put a bit more effort in.
Hey Miss Smack!
Yes it was great chatting with you. I hope you did some good shopping. I am well!
