FEELING VERY JONI MITCHELL...
Both Sides Now
by Joni Mitchell
Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds * that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As ev'ry fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way
But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Yes...indeed! :)
A Sista who digs JONI like I digs Joni? Coolness! She's also one of Prince's favorite artists, because that's what she is: AN ARTIST!
I think this version (own the CD) beats the hell out of her original song. Here she's matured, evolved, & the song takes on a deeper, more LIVED meaning. It's lyrically deep, With a mad array of colors to its meaning... just like Joni.
Listen to Furry Sing the Blues, or Amelia, and you will be astounded of how she makes people w/ nothing in common with you or me, come so alive that we begin to see OURSELVES in them.
As you can prolly tell, loves me some Joni, yo!
She's one of those people, who just by listening to her, taught me how to be a better poet.

YES! You so get me and you so understand exactly why I chose this rendition! This song is haunting me right now...and I love it...I think I ma supposed to hear something or think something.
And yes have you ever heard Prince's rendition of A Case Of You...OMG it stops me COLD...knocks me to the ground! It's hard to find because its part of the JM tribute...
Oh did you listen to my reading of your BEAUTIFUL poem...on my blogtalk radio button click Love Poems.
Like WHOA! My Sista Lo!
You have more than done my poem
Justice. Your breath
was a soft wind which made
its sentiment
fly.
Your voice gave
it the delicacy of a lush
and quiet
symphony. You brought
to it more than just
the solo song
of a human voice. Your ebb
and flow left
goosebumps on the
skin of my
soul!
Thank YOU!
snatch JOY!

actually, i listened to the ENTIRE show, and thoroughly enjoyed your poetry reading. this is why i was so honored. my work was in the same company several poets i admire. so, THANK YOU again!
btw: i can say this from having seen her in concert four times... there's something in the soothing tone of your speaking voice that reminds me of india-ire.
& yes, that's a supreme compliment. *smiles*
