This is one of the most amazing songs ever! I love it. I only heard it for the first time today. It is a haunting, sombering song and OH YEAH Joe Sample too! GOSH this is LUSH!
Always remember my friend,
the world will change again.
And you may have to come back
through everywhere you've been.
When your life was low,
you had nowhere to go.
People turned their backs on you,
and everybody said that you were through.
I took you in, made you strong again
put you back together.
Out of all the dreams you left along the way,
you left me shining.
Now you're doing well
from stories I hear tell.
You own the world again.
Everyone's your friend.
Although I never hear from you,
still it's nice to know
you used to love me so,
when your life was low.
I took you in. I made you strong again.
I put you back together.
Out of all the dreams you left along the way,
you left me shining
Now you're doing well
from stories I hear tell.
You own the world again.
Everyone's your friend.
Although I never hear from you,
still it's nice to know
you used to love me so,
you used to love me so,
when your life was low.
But always remember my friend,
the world will change again.
And you may have to come back
through everywhere you've been.
The world will change again.

Beautiful haunting song. I can totally relate to it as well and then i thought i've heard this before, so i had to go searching where. It was first sung by Bette Midler another female fav of mine. But it doesn't matter who sang it first or last, it's really the lyrics that will live on forever. Thanks for sharing Lovebabz...i was entranced.
I have loved this song for years!! When I long to hear it or another one that Lalah did.. "Fever" -- I am in a sultry and or reminiscent mood. Joe and Lalah definitely go together like peanut butter and chocolate!!
This is so weird, I was just listening to that cd in my car. I love that entire cd...I love me some Bette Midler too!
Loved Midler's song, and did not know that Lelah had covered it.
Great song! I hear what it says and will say that with your previous entry, it is on point.
But...
What a great song Lovebabz!
I have never heard it before, and I can so relate to it!
Ironically, about a month ago, a DJ friend of mine made me a CD of obscure Jazz tracks by female vocalists like Roberta, Nina, Angie Bofill, Rene Marie, etc... and this song was included. Been FEELIN' it kinda strong & the lyrics ring so true. Unfortunately he didn't list WHO was singin' what, and I'd been racking my brain tryna figure out WHO was breaking my heart w/ this song. Thanks to you I now KNOW it was Lalah!
Wow! Donny must be smiling!
SJ!
One.
